The Sunday of Monterey car Week is highlighted by the Pebble Beach Concours, however my attendance this year was brief due to a lack of a ticket… oops. But there were whispers of action at Laguna Seca, a few bespoke superc… sorry, hypercars were having a little track day. Unfortunately for me, it was a private event, wristbands required, and I didn’t know anyone who could supply one. But my friends did.
The purpose of this track day wasn’t just for the uber wealthy to flex their multi million dollar toys to other uber wealthy dudes, but Koenigsegg brought out their star talent, Markus Lundh, and their flagship Jesko to take the Laguna Seca lap record away from the local Czinger. 1 minute and 24 seconds was enough to take the top of the leaderboard. Until Czinger came back a week later and shattered it again…
As for the rest of the flock, some of the stars were the Southern Californian all star flock of Agera RS’s, a few Regeras, the new CC850, the Jesko Absolut (which can supposedly fetch over 300mph but its been years since that claim has been made), an early CCR, CCX, and my personal favorite, the misunderstood CCGT, a coulda been GT racer that was “too race car to race” but the real story is it was so unsafe that the powers that be said hell no.
Still a fantastic car, too bad the owner is a jerk.
